I love the idea behind the ideas Campaign!  It’s terrific – stop whinging and start acting – send in your ideas on how to solve Ireland’s economic problems.

I had an idea I wanted to share so I went over there to submit it and was dismayed to find that the website uses a third party software based in the U.S. for collecting data.

OK so maybe it’s free and easy to use but would it not have been more in-keeping with the spirit of the campaign to use an Irish application or developer?

I flew over and asked them about it on Twitter.

They said:

They used SurveyMonkey because they were used to it and as it was to be launched in a short time, they didn’t have time to find an alternative.  I say it wouldn’t have take any length of time to find an Irish developer who would’ve happily volunteered their services to help the campaign within the timeframe.  So I replied:

twitter_ideascampaign3

And that was the end of the conversation.

But it has bugged me ever since so I’m curious to know how others feel about this.
